We spent the day rummaging through a collapsing house and several small sheds looking for treasures, two hours from our city. It was cold and it was raining. There were times when the roof felt like it might collapse, when we stuck our heads in cob webs, or boxes with mice droppings. But we survived and walked away with some new things to clutter our homes with. What a good day, and I accidentally missed most of work. Oops.
But it was also sad. A man lived and died living in these awful conditions. No one to collect his things. Family pictures and letters never mailed. It felt like an episode of ‘Hoarders’.
